In the latter part of 1950, Rio de Janeiro began an intense process of economical change. After the Federal Capital transferred to Brasilia, a new entrepreneurial class was suddenly born in the Southern Zone of Rio. The coastal districts of Flamengo, Botafogo, and Copacabana were the first to experience these new financial opportunities.
The "Girl from Ipanema" walked to the beach under the eyes of Vinicius de Moraes and Tom Jobim. General Osorio Square became the new commercial center of the city.
In 1959 Zona Sul opened the first store at that square, encouraged by the dream of developing a different business, aimed at demanding and high-standard customers, based on providing excellent services and offering quality products.
From day one, Zona Sul has evolved just as quickly as it´s clients desires and demands grew. Zona Sul has continued a constant search for improvement and growth, adopting the principles of a professional management without deviating from the original concepts of segmentation.
Zona Sul keeps positioning the brand through its stores and services, focused on the customer, on innovation and on the quality of each item offered, also adding proposals, concepts and parameters of sustainability and social-environmental responsibility.
The company is constantly positioning the brand through its stores, concentrating services on our customer’s needs, focusing on the innovation and quality of all items offered, updating concepts, and emphasizing parameters of sustainability and social-environmental responsibilities.
Zona Sul is like that. A company guided by the pursuit of "being recognized as standard and profitable", a view shared by the entire team of more than 6,000 employees, always aiming to build a future project, with customers as the main reason for our existence.
Currently with 33 stores, in three different proposals, nowadays Zona Sul is under the brands: Zona Sul, which has 31 units distributed throughout the districts with the public of greater purchasing power in the city of Rio de Janeiro, and with a store in the resort town of Angra dos Reis; Zona Sul Atende, our e-commerce brand; Mega Box, the wholesale "cash and carry" brand.
These three brands are guided by the same values of ethics, respect to customer and to employee, constant innovation and modesty. A Brazilian company, carioca in its origins, always thinking ahead and visualizing the future.
